The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is slated for its next major software upgrade, version 3.3.0, with an anticipated release next week. Jazzi Copper, Head of Product at RippleX, revealed five proposed amendments designed to enhance the ledger's functionality for tokenized assets. These amendments, which will only be enforced after validator approval, aim to facilitate global transfers, trading, collateralization, and settlement of digital assets.

Key among the proposed changes is the Confidential MPT amendment, which leverages elliptic-curve encryption and zero-knowledge proofs to provide native privacy for Multi-Purpose Tokens. This feature will allow issuers and token holders to keep balances and transaction amounts confidential, while designated entities like auditors or regulators can access this information if required. Copper highlighted that such privacy features are often a prerequisite for financial institutions to adopt public blockchain infrastructure.

Another significant amendment is the Batch feature, enabling the atomic processing of multiple transactions across various accounts in a single ledger entry. This is expected to support complex workflows such as delivery-versus-payment (DvP) and atomic settlement. Additionally, the Permission Delegation amendment will allow institutions to delegate specific transaction permissions without relinquishing overall signing authority, empowering treasury teams to manage operational tasks while retaining control of sensitive keys.

The Sponsored Fees and Reserves amendment aims to lower onboarding barriers by allowing banks, issuers, or platforms to cover transaction fees and account reserves on behalf of users, who will retain ownership of their accounts and keys. Finally, the Dynamic MPT amendment will grant issuers the ability to modify certain token properties, including transfer fees and metadata, after the initial token issuance, without needing to create a new token.

Copper urged validator operators to review the amendments as they become available, noting that the release is currently anticipated for the following week.
