Donald Trump's media company, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), has terminated plans for a Crypto.com-backed CRO treasury company and scaled back prediction market ventures due to market conditions and competitive dynamics. The companies mutually dissolved the treasury deal, citing "prevailing market conditions, and shifting business and stakeholder priorities." The venture would have created a publicly traded company focused on accumulating Cronos (CRO) tokens and earning returns through staking. TMTG had previously purchased $105 million of CRO tokens in September 2025 as part of a broader partnership with Crypto.com, which included integrating token rewards into its Truth Social platform. A separate agreement for Crypto.com to service planned Yorkville America ETFs was also dropped. Plans to build Crypto.com-powered prediction markets directly into Truth Social have also been scaled back. TAE interim CEO Kevin McGurn stated the decision was driven by "competitive dynamics" rather than regulatory concerns, noting market saturation in the digital asset treasury space. TMTG also recently moved approximately $165 million worth of Bitcoin to addresses associated with Crypto.com.
