Ondo Finance's subsidiary, Oasis Pro Markets, has received authorization from FINRA to offer tokenized equities and funds to U.S. investors, marking a significant expansion into the American market. This approval allows for trading of a wide range of securities, including NMS equities, ETFs, mutual funds, index funds, and IPO securities, under the oversight of both the SEC and FINRA.
The new framework enables settlements in fiat currency or supported stablecoins, with the flexibility for direct transfers between blockchain wallets. It also supports omnibus account structures, allowing existing broker-dealers and registered investment advisers to integrate Ondo's tokenized offerings into their platforms without requiring clients to switch services. Retirement accounts are also included in this integration.
This development builds upon Ondo's prior acquisition of Oasis Pro, which consolidated SEC-registered broker-dealer, ATS, and transfer agent licenses. The transfer agent arm facilitates on-chain cap table management and shareholder rights. Previously, Ondo had tokenized BlackRock's IVV ETF and Micron shares within the U.S. regulatory framework.
Ondo Finance is a leading player in the tokenized real-world assets (RWA) space, boasting over $20 billion in cumulative volume and more than $1 billion in total value locked (TVL). While Ondo has seen significant traction internationally, securing EU approvals and expanding across multiple blockchains, the U.S. market presented regulatory hurdles that are now being addressed.
The FINRA authorization is expected to bring benefits such as 24/7 trading, near-instant settlement, and fractional ownership to a broader U.S. investor base. The SEC's prior closure of its probe into Ondo without charges is seen as a signal of confidence in the company's model. The ONDO token was trading at $0.40, down 3.14% in the past 24 hours.
