Digital asset infrastructure provider Copper has established a regulated presence in the United States after its local entity, Copper Markets (US) Inc., achieved registration as a broker-dealer with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and became a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Copper announced on Wednesday that its US arm had been accepted as a FINRA member, a move that will enable the firm to extend its institutional custody and trading infrastructure into the American market. FINRA BrokerCheck records confirm Copper Markets' SEC registration status, effective August 7, and identify FINRA as the company's self-regulatory organization.
The company stated that its US operations will provide qualified custody, staking, financing, and over-the-counter (OTC) services. Additionally, clients will gain access to Copper's ClearLoop Network, a system designed to allow institutions to pledge and transfer crypto and tokenized assets as collateral between counterparties. Copper highlighted this expansion as a significant step in establishing its US presence as a "Qualified Custodian," a designation permitted under SEC rules for registered broker-dealers holding client assets.
