Crypto exchange Bitget has launched Project Archimedes, a $300 million initiative designed to bolster institutional investment in the quantitative trading sector. The program aims to support firms including asset managers and market makers by providing capital and reducing funding expenses.

Project Archimedes features two distinct funding tracks. The first allocates $100 million to new and developing quantitative companies employing market-neutral strategies, with capital issued based on agreed-upon risk and return terms. The second track offers $200 million in interest-free loans to existing institutions with proven strategies, qualifying based on specified trading volume or position criteria.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that strong strategies often face capital constraints rather than talent limitations. Project Archimedes is intended to provide capable teams with the acceleration needed to scale, aligning capital, risk, and execution for sustainable performance. The exchange aims to support over fifty projects in the next six months through this initiative.

The exchange highlighted new market difficulties for quantitative companies, including narrowed crypto arbitrage profits and increased competition. This has led companies to explore ventures such as basis spreads and funding-rate differences. Bitget is also focusing on tokenized assets, such as tokenized US stocks, for arbitrage strategies, leveraging its Unified Account structure which allows eligible rToken spot positions to serve as collateral for derivatives trading without fund transfers.

Participation in Project Archimedes will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with capital deployed in phases. Bitget Institutional will provide updates on participation and deployed funds, alongside research and institutional case studies. Participating firms will also gain access to Bitget's liquidity, trading services, and institutional network.
