The Binance Android application has disappeared from Google Play Store searches in several European Union countries, sparking concerns about the exchange's adherence to the bloc's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework.
A user in Spain reported on Monday that the Binance app was no longer discoverable via Google Play searches, though it remained accessible through alternative Android app stores like Oppo's. However, checks in Poland indicated that the app was still available on Google Play, suggesting the issue is not uniform across all EU markets.
Initial reports of the app's removal in Europe emerged last week. Erald Ghoos, CEO of OKX Europe, suggested on X that the unavailability was a consequence of MiCA licensing requirements. Cointelegraph reached out to Binance for comment but had not received a response by the time of publication.
These developments follow Binance's withdrawal of its MiCA application in Greece shortly before the framework's transitional period concluded on July 1. Subsequently, the exchange informed some EU users about restrictions on certain services, while assuring them that withdrawal functionalities would remain operational.
