Bank Leumi, Israel's largest bank, is set to launch cryptocurrency trading services for its customers in early 2027, marking a significant move for the Israeli financial sector. Through its Leumi Trade app, customers will gain the ability to buy, hold, and sell bitcoin, ether, and solana. Galaxy Digital will power this new offering by providing the necessary trading and custody infrastructure via its GalaxyOne Institutional platform. This marks Bank Leumi's second attempt at crypto trading, after a previous plan in 2022 with Paxos was halted by the Bank of Israel. Recent regulatory changes in mid-2026 have removed deposit delays and established clear standards for wallet security and capital, creating a more favorable environment for banks to offer digital assets. Galaxy Digital, holding a New York DFS BitLicense, will manage both the trading execution and custody of assets using its air-gapped GK8 wallet technology. Lior Lamesh, CEO of Galaxy Israel, highlighted the importance of banks embracing digital assets to define the future of finance.
