Diners in Dallas and other Texas cities will soon be able to order food deliveries by drone directly to their doorstep from dozens of restaurant brands, foodhall company Wonder announced on Tuesday.
Wonder, which operates around 130 foodhalls across the country, stated that drone deliveries will go live in January at most of a handful of locations it plans to open in Dallas. More foodhalls with drone delivery capabilities are slated to open in other major Texas cities throughout 2027.
The company's expansion into drone delivery intensifies competition in the low-altitude delivery sector, with rivals DoorDash and Uber Eats also pursuing similar technologies. "We know the faster we can deliver, the higher quality the food," said Wonder North American CEO Tony Hoggett.
Wonder's drone flights in Texas will be operated by San Francisco-based startup Zipline, which has existing partnerships in the healthcare, food, and retail sectors. Wonder has already conducted tests of drone deliveries in the U.S. Northeast.
The company, which is preparing for a potential IPO as soon as 2027, operates foodhalls that function similarly to "ghost kitchens" by preparing food from numerous restaurant brands, while also offering dine-in options. Wonder has grown rapidly through acquisitions, including Grubhub for $650 million in 2024, kitchen robotics company Spyce for $186 million in 2025, and meal-kit company Blue Apron for $103 million in 2023.
