Walmart announced on Tuesday that it has finalized its acquisition of Vibe.co, a self-service streaming TV advertising platform. The deal, first revealed in June, integrates Vibe.co into Walmart Connect, the retailer's existing connected TV advertising arm.
The Wall Street Journal reported the acquisition price at $1.4 billion. Vibe.co's technology is designed to simplify the launch of streaming TV advertising campaigns for small and medium-sized businesses across various publishers.
By incorporating Vibe.co's capabilities, Walmart seeks to broaden its connected TV advertising services and enhance its ability to engage with consumers. Ryan Mayward, GM and Senior Vice President of Walmart Connect, stated that the combined entity will focus on making advertising more measurable, effective, and accessible for advertisers.
This move follows Walmart's significant acquisition of TV manufacturer Vizio in 2024 for $2.3 billion, a strategic step aimed at bolstering its advertising business.
