SoftBank Corp. is reportedly nearing a deal to acquire SP.Links, a Japanese payments services provider that was formerly Sony Payment Services. The acquisition is valued at approximately $625 million (100 billion yen) and is intended to enhance SoftBank's existing settlements business, particularly for in-app payments in gaming and other applications.
SP.Links was previously owned by Blackstone. The deal would likely position SoftBank's combined transaction volume to rival that of the industry leader in Japan.
