Seven & i Holdings, the Japanese operator of 7-Eleven stores, announced on July 25 that it has decided not to proceed with an investment in Poland's largest convenience chain, Zabka Group. The company stated that the two parties could not reach an agreement on the terms of the investment.
Earlier in July, Seven & i had confirmed it was in discussions regarding a minority stake in Zabka, which operates over 12,900 stores in Poland and Romania, many under a franchise model similar to 7-Eleven's. Zabka Group went public on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in late 2024. The potential deal was seen as part of Seven & i's strategy to focus more on convenience stores globally, following its sale of its supermarket arm, Ito-Yokado, last year.
