Primark announced it will reduce prices by up to 29% on hundreds of its bestselling clothing items across all 19 of its markets, effective Monday. The move comes as the fashion retailer seeks to improve trading performance amid a challenging consumer environment, having reported a 2.2% fall in like-for-like sales in its third quarter.
Examples of the price cuts include a women's supersoft boyfriend pyjama set reduced from £17 to £13, a women's single-breasted coat from £26 to £22, and a men's brushed overshirt from £25 to £20. Primark is also increasing investment in initiatives aimed at driving like-for-like sales growth.
This strategic pricing adjustment precedes the planned demerger of Primark from its parent company, Associated British Foods (AB Foods). AB Foods confirmed in April that it intends to spin off the fashion retailer from its food businesses by the end of 2027.
