Passionfroot, a German startup specializing in a marketplace for B2B creators and brands, announced on Wednesday it has raised $15 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Insight Partners, with participation from existing investors Creandum, Supernode Global, and s16vc. This brings the company's total funding to over $21 million.
The company plans to use the new capital to expand its operations into the U.S., with plans to open an office in New York and relocate its CEO, Jen Phan, to the city. Passionfroot is also establishing a presence in Sao Paulo. The startup aims to grow its current team of 15 employees.
Passionfroot's platform connects brands seeking expertise and content with creators who possess deep market knowledge. According to CEO Jen Phan, the increasing commoditization of software due to AI has led B2B brands to focus on creator-driven marketing for brand recall and recognition. Buyers are increasingly turning to platforms like LinkedIn, Substack, and YouTube podcasts to discover new products.
Rebecca Liu-Doyle, managing director at Insight Partners, highlighted Passionfroot's strong market position, noting the growing consumerization of B2B marketing strategies, partly driven by AI's need for evangelism and education. She also pointed to the supply side, where individuals with expertise are creating quality content.
Passionfroot has seen significant growth, reporting a 13-fold increase in revenue over the past year and onboarding clients such as ElevenLabs, Figma, Replit, Framer, and Gamma. The company also launched Zest, an AI agent designed to assist brands in creating, executing, and monitoring marketing campaigns, and finding suitable creators. The platform utilizes a proprietary creator graph and offers a payment wallet for global creator compensation and expenditure tracking. Passionfroot claims to have paid at least $10 million to creators over the last 18 months.
The company is also developing features to help clients measure campaign impact on AI citations and brand presence in AI-generated answers. Future plans include building AI features for creators, such as monetization tips and content ideation. This funding round occurs as other creator platforms like Substack and Beehiiv are also enhancing their monetization tools for creators.
