Nissan is recalling 168,149 vehicles in the United States due to incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) listed on their certification labels. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that these incorrect ratings could permit the vehicles to be overloaded, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall specifically affects certain Nissan Armada, Infiniti QX56, and QX80 vehicles. Additionally, a separate recall (NHTSA ID 25V188000) involves approximately 37,003 vehicles, including certain 2025 Nissan Kicks models, where the certification label may have been printed with incorrect GVWR and GAWR values, and in some cases, incorrect wheel size information for SR trim levels with optional 19-inch wheels. This also fails to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards.
For both recalls, dealers will install new labels free of charge. Nissan will also mail replacement labels directly to owners. Owner notification letters for the Kicks recall were mailed on May 27, 2025. The recall report for the Kicks was received on April 18, 2025, with a reported completion rate of 86.11%.
