Lockheed Martin has agreed to acquire Ultra Maritime, a company specializing in undersea warfare solutions, from private equity firm Advent for $3.45 billion. The deal aims to enhance Lockheed Martin's capabilities in anti-submarine warfare for U.S. and allied naval forces.
Advent stated that since acquiring Ultra Maritime in 2022, it has invested approximately $170 million in advanced product development and manufacturing. These investments have reportedly strengthened Ultra Maritime's position as a provider of anti-submarine warfare solutions, including sonobuoys, and have contributed to an annual revenue growth of around 17%.
Ultra Maritime's expertise spans acoustics, sonar, radar technologies, and torpedo countermeasures. The company has also formed strategic partnerships with Anduril Industries and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems to advance autonomous ocean sensing and unmanned anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
Stephanie C. Hill, President of Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, expressed that the acquisition will accelerate the delivery of advanced undersea and anti-submarine warfare capabilities. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
