Magic Circle firm Linklaters has reported a record financial year, with partner profits soaring to £2.5m after achieving its third consecutive year of double-digit profit growth. For the year ending April 30, 2026, the firm announced record revenue of £2.47bn, a nearly 7% increase, and pre-tax profit of £1.2bn, up over 11%. This marks the second consecutive year the firm has surpassed the billion-pound profit mark.
Profit per equity partner (PEP) saw a significant rise of over 11% to £2.48m, while profit per all partners grew nearly 11% to £2.31m. Firmwide managing partner Paul Lewis described it as "another outstanding year," attributing the success to client confidence in the firm's ability to handle high-stakes matters.
Linklaters has been actively pursuing international expansion, particularly aiming to strengthen its presence in the US market, where it has doubled its revenue and quadrupled profit over the past four years, increasing its US partnership to approximately 55. The firm recently bolstered its US strategic disputes team by hiring two lawyers from Paul Weiss.
In addition to global expansion, the firm has opened new offices in Shanghai and Singapore and added 37 new elected partners and 12 lateral partner hires across its global network. In London, Linklaters has moved into its new 360,000 sq ft global headquarters at 20 Ropemaker Street.
Notable mandates from the past year include advising the UK government on the £38bn Sizewell C Nuclear Plant Project, representing Unilever on the global demerger and listings of The Magnum Ice Cream Company, and defending Visa against class actions. The firm has also been investing in legal AI, launching its Applied Intelligence team and hiring dedicated AI lawyers to enhance client services.
