Khosla Ventures, an early investor in OpenAI, is reportedly in discussions to raise up to $5.5 billion for its latest set of venture investment funds. This potential fundraising would represent the firm's largest to date in its two-decade history.
The capital is intended to be primarily directed towards early-stage companies. Specifically, the firm is considering allocating around $1 billion to seed-stage startups and approximately $2 billion to venture-stage startups. Additionally, Khosla Ventures is discussing raising about $2.5 billion for an opportunity fund, which would support more mature companies.
Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the final size of each fund could still change as negotiations progress. The firm's most recent fundraising effort last year secured approximately $4 billion. A spokesperson for Khosla Ventures declined to comment on the ongoing discussions.
