Bundesliga club Freiburg has signed Japanese forward Keisuke Gotō from Belgian club Anderlecht. The 21-year-old joins Freiburg in a straight transfer, adding to the club's Japanese contingent. Gotō spent last season on loan at Sint-Truiden, where he scored 10 goals in 28 league appearances.
Sporting director Jochen Saier expressed excitement about Gotō's potential, noting his "daring style of play," ability to make runs in behind, and positioning in the penalty area. Saier acknowledged that Gotō will need time for integration and further development.
Gotō joined Anderlecht from Júbilo Iwata in January 2024. He is also part of Japan's World Cup squad and will first focus on international duty.
