Ford is initiating a recall for 565,691 vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire hazard originating from the engine compartment wiring harness. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that damage to the harness could lead to a short circuit, generating heat or sparks and increasing the risk of a fire. The affected vehicles include certain 2021-2026 model year Ford Bronco and Bronco Raptor models. As a remedy, Ford dealerships will install protective sheathing over the wiring at no cost to the owners.
This recall is separate from a previous issue involving cracked fuel injectors in over 765,000 Ford vehicles, primarily the 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Ford Escape models equipped with 1.5-liter engines. In that case, leaking fuel could ignite on hot engine parts, which has been linked to at least eight engine compartment fires. Regulators have questioned the adequacy of previous repairs for the fuel injector issue, noting that they did not address the root cause. Ford is currently developing a new repair strategy for this ongoing problem, with interim repair letters for the fuel injector recall expected to be mailed starting August 18, 2025.
