Compass is now extending its proprietary Home Platform technology to a wider audience following its $1.6 billion acquisition of Anywhere Real Estate, the parent company of Corcoran. Agents like Kyle Talbott and Arthur Goodrich are gaining access to the platform, which has undergone significant development over the past decade.
Talbott, who initially considered moving to Compass in 2017 due to its technology, now has access to the Home Platform through Corcoran. He expressed satisfaction with its simplicity, efficiency, and features like reverse prospecting, which helps agents target listings to suitable buyers. Goodrich highlighted the customer dashboard as a key benefit, simplifying transaction tracking for clients.
Compass invested billions in developing its technology, a strategy that faced skepticism due to the company's struggle with profitability and rising interest rates. Rory Golod, Compass's president of growth, defended the investment, stating it was necessary to build a comprehensive platform that meaningfully helps agents grow their businesses and serve clients. He believes the integrated nature of the platform, with a single database feeding all tools, is a significant advantage.
The integration of artificial intelligence, including an AI Assistant launched in 2023, has further enhanced the platform's capabilities. Shay Artzi, Compass's CTO, noted that the AI Assistant has evolved from a simple chatbot to a robust tool connected to over 90 platform tools, driving efficiency. The company's control over its infrastructure, or 'technology sovereignty,' allows for seamless AI integration, according to Artzi and Victor Lund, managing partner at WAV Group Consulting. Lund emphasized that data ownership is crucial for effective AI, giving Compass an edge.
