Steve Byrd is set to become the next Chief Executive Officer of Canopy MLS, taking over the role on August 1. Byrd, who has served as the organization's Chief Technology Officer, will lead Canopy MLS as it undergoes a significant restructuring of its governance and leadership.
This leadership change is part of a broader strategic shift to separate the executive leadership of Canopy MLS and its parent organization, the Canopy Realtor Association. This move aims to enhance accountability and position both entities for future growth. Anne Marie DeCatsye, the current CEO of both organizations, is retiring at the end of 2026 after more than 25 years of service.
Byrd, who joined Canopy MLS in 1997, has been instrumental in developing and managing the technology infrastructure that supports thousands of real estate professionals daily. As CEO, his responsibilities will expand to include strategic leadership, operational oversight, financial management, and driving innovation to establish Canopy MLS as a leader in MLS innovation nationwide. He is expected to continue collaborating with the Southeast MLS Alliance to improve data access and services for brokers and agents.
For the remainder of 2026, Byrd will report to DeCatsye. A national search is currently underway to find a dedicated CEO for the Canopy Realtor Association. Byrd's extensive industry involvement includes board positions with the Council of MLS and the Real Estate Standards Organization, as well as advisory roles for various real estate technology companies.
