Benjamin Lucas, the Chief Executive Officer of Amundi Technology, is set to depart the financial technology platform to take on the role of chief executive at Aztec Group. Lucas will officially join Aztec Group, a provider of private markets services, on July 1, succeeding Sean Hagerty, who has been serving as interim chief executive since October 2025 and will return to his position as chair of the board.
Amundi Technology is described as a global financial technology platform that caters to investment and wealth management clients. Lucas's prior experience includes senior leadership roles at EY and KPMG, where he focused on asset management consulting. He brings extensive experience in transforming financial institutions with a focus on innovation and technology.
In his new capacity at Aztec Group, Lucas will lead over 2,200 employees across the UK, US, Luxembourg, Ireland, and the Channel Islands. He expressed enthusiasm for Aztec's culture, which combines specialist expertise, client partnerships, and technological ambition, particularly as private markets grow in complexity. Lucas stated his focus will be on strengthening this foundation by integrating advanced technology with human expertise.
Hagerty noted that Lucas shares Aztec's client-focused mindset and brings significant commercial and technology expertise, along with a proven track record of leading global businesses. Aztec Group currently administers more than €750 billion in assets, manages 450 funds, and oversees 4,500 entities for clients in private equity, real assets, and private credit.
