Aerolineas Argentinas has announced a significant fleet renewal plan, aiming to introduce 20 new aircraft between 2027 and 2031. This initiative marks the state airline's most substantial fleet overhaul in a decade, with the goal of modernizing a quarter of its total fleet and 60% of its long-haul operations.
The airline stated that the entire plan will be financed through its own resources. Formalized agreements at the Farnborough Airshow include contracts for 14 aircraft, comprising six Airbus A330neo widebodies and eight Boeing 737 MAX 10 narrowbodies. The remaining six aircraft for the program are Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, with two already contracted and four in the process of being secured.
The first new aircraft, a 737 MAX 8, is anticipated for delivery in early 2027. The Airbus A330neos are scheduled to join the fleet starting in the first half of 2028. Aerolineas Argentinas CEO Fabian Lombardo expressed confidence in the industry's view of the company, highlighting that these agreements reflect long-term planning focused on efficiency and profitability.
Additional reports indicate plans to lease 18 new aircraft, including four Airbus A330-900 widebodies and fourteen Boeing 737 variants (737-8s, 737-9s, and 737-10s). The airline is also negotiating leases for two Airbus A330-200 jets and plans to lease four new generation Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. The company is targeting Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 models for its single-aisle fleet renewal, as lease contracts for older 737-700 models expire in 2025.
