Six automakers, including Hyundai Motor Co., BYD Korea, and Mercedes-Benz Korea, are voluntarily recalling a total of 146,505 vehicles across 38 models in South Korea due to defective components. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced the recalls on Thursday.
Hyundai Motor will recall 54,792 units of two models, such as the Tucson, after identifying software errors in the instrument cluster control system that could cause display flickering or shutoffs. Chinese automaker BYD is recalling 18,091 units of six models, including the SEALION 7, because the seat belt reminder warning might be obscured by other notifications.
Mercedes-Benz Korea is recalling 2,113 units of the C 300 4MATIC due to durability issues within the steering wheel electronics control circuit. Volvo Car Korea is initiating a preventative maintenance recall for 55,405 units across seven models, including the XC60, because of a durability concern with a component in the 48-volt starter-generator.
Jaguar Land Rover Korea will recall 14,373 units of 21 models, including the Defender 110 D240, to address a durability issue with the steering wheel airbag connector. Stellantis Korea has called for 1,731 units of the 300C to be fixed due to a defective component in the high-pressure fuel pump, which could potentially cause the engine to stall while driving.
