XPeng Inc. has launched its new L03 compact SUV in Munich, Germany, on July 16, 2026. This marks the first time the Chinese electric-vehicle maker has simultaneously introduced a global model in overseas markets and China. The debut highlights a broader strategy by Chinese automakers to expand into Europe, seeking higher profit margins amid slowing domestic sales and increased competition at home.
The Xpeng L03 enters the European market starting at 35,600 EUR (40,740 USD). It is a 4.6-meter fastback SUV designed to compete with models like the Atto 2 EV and Leapmotor B10. XPeng aims to leverage its European presence, emphasizing its high-end assisted driving technology. The L03 will be available in 64 overseas markets, featuring an Advanced Intelligent Driving system powered by Google Maps Auto Software Development Kit (SDK) and a pair of Turing AI chips, enabling an address-to-address Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) function.
XPeng is actively localizing its European operations with a dedicated R&D center and manufacturing at the Magna Steyr plant in Austria. The company already has over 150 sales points across the region and plans to establish more than 1,000 charging stations in 13 European countries.
The L03 is offered in Europe with five trim levels, including four battery-electric (BEV) versions and one extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) option. The entry-level RWD Standard Range BEV starts at 35,600 EUR, featuring a 58.3 kWh LFP battery providing 445 km of WLTP range. Higher trims include a Long Range BEV and an AWD Performance variant with dual motors. The EREV version, priced at 38,600 EUR, combines a 1.5-liter petrol engine generator with a 37.25 kWh battery, offering up to 215 km of electric-only range and a total range of over 1,000 km with the range extender.
The Xpeng L03, designed by former Ferrari designer Juanma Lopez, features XPeng's Vital Flow design language. Inside, it boasts a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 26.8-inch head-up display, and over 72% of the interior covered in soft-touch materials. The panoramic sunroof includes advanced UV and light-blocking technology. In China, the L03 BEV models range from 123,800 to 156,800 yuan, with EREV versions priced between 123,800 and 146,800 yuan.
