Toyota Finance has launched a tokenized bond that allows retail investors to purchase it directly through the Toyota Wallet mobile payment app, bypassing the need for a traditional securities account. Applications for the one-year bond, with a total value of 1 billion yen, opened on Tuesday. The minimum investment is set at 100,000 Japanese yen, approximately $676. The bond carries an annual interest rate of 1.72% and is managed on blockchain infrastructure provided by the Japanese security-token firm BOOSTRY. Toyota Finance stated that this direct distribution model enables the integration of applications, communication with bondholders, and investor benefits within a single ecosystem. Investors may also receive Toyota Wallet balances and qualify for exclusive benefits, including tickets to Fuji Speedway and opportunities for test drives in Lexus and selected classic Toyota vehicles. This offering marks Toyota Finance's second security token bond, following its initial issuance in March 2025, which was distributed through securities companies.
