Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD reported a 5.5% year-over-year increase in global sales for June, reaching 403,472 units. This marks the second consecutive month of sales growth, following an 0.3% rise in May that ended an eight-month decline. The company's international expansion is a key driver, with overseas sales in May 2026 up 80.4% from the previous year and up 18.9% from April 2026. For the first five months of 2026, BYD's sales outside of China increased by 65% compared to the same period in 2025. This export strength is crucial as BYD navigates sluggish domestic demand in China. In comparison, BYD's rival Leapmotor saw a 95% year-on-year increase in June sales.
