President Trump's social media platform, Truth Social, has experienced a substantial decline in user engagement, with estimates indicating double-digit percentage drops in visitors during June and July. According to data cited by the Financial Times, daily active users of the mobile app fell from 436,000 in July 2025 to 261,000 one year later.
Truth Social serves as a key communication channel for Trump, who uses it to share his views on various topics, including geopolitical strategy and his worldview. Despite its role as Trump's "authentic voice," the platform faces stiff competition from established social media giants like Facebook, which boasts over 2 billion daily active users, and X (formerly Twitter), which has upwards of 130 million daily active users.
Kevin McGurn, head of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), acknowledged the platform's competitiveness and expressed confidence in its sustainability, even if Trump were to step back as its primary creator after the 2028 presidential election. He aims to attract more creators to the service and believes the "Trump brand deserves its own lasting media network."
Recently, TMTG launched a premium version of Truth Social for Wall Street firms, offering early access to Trump's posts for $100,000 per month. However, this offering has been met with significant criticism from financial industry professionals, some of whom called the price "scandalous" and indicated no intention to subscribe.
