Tesla has introduced a six-seater, long-wheelbase version of its Model Y SUV in the U.S., a move aimed at boosting sales of its electric vehicles. The launch version is priced at $61,990. This strategy of introducing variants of existing models, rather than entirely new ones, has been employed by Tesla to stimulate demand. The company had previously rolled out the longer version, known as Model Y L, in China last year, where it contributed to sales growth despite significant competition from BYD and other domestic automakers. The Model Y L was later expanded to other Asia-Pacific markets. The three-row model boasts a range of 325 miles and is expected to help revive demand in the U.S. following a slowdown attributed to the removal of a federal tax credit last year. In a separate development, Tesla reported record-setting second-quarter delivery numbers that surpassed Wall Street estimates, driven by a rebound in Europe, fueling optimism that the company may end its two-year streak of annual declines in 2026.
