Samsung, SK Group chiefs to attend Google Camp in Italy

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won are slated to attend Google's annual invitation-only summer gathering, known as Google Camp, on the Italian island of Sicily later this month, according to industry sources.

The event, hosted by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, convenes leading technology executives, business leaders, and prominent public figures from across the globe.

Last year, both executives were unable to attend due to their focus on U.S. visits during South Korea-U.S. tariff negotiations. Industry observers anticipate that Lee and Chey will leverage this year's gathering to foster stronger relationships with Google and other global technology leaders, while also engaging in discussions on key business issues.

This planned participation comes shortly after Lee and Chey attended a significant high-level meeting in San Francisco. At that meeting, heads of major South Korean conglomerates and global technology firms, including Nvidia Corp., committed to pursuing a series of cooperation projects collectively valued at $950 billion.
