Samsung Electronics Co. is set to launch its latest Galaxy Z foldable smartphone lineup in South Korea on Friday, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The company announced on Thursday that the new devices will debut after achieving a record 1.44 million preorders, the highest figure ever for a Galaxy smartphone series.
According to Samsung Electronics, individuals in their teens, 20s, and 30s constituted half of all preorders, and the number of female customers more than doubled compared to the previous Galaxy foldable lineup. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, featuring a new foldable form factor, represented approximately 70 percent of the total preorders.
Powered by Alphabet Inc.'s Gemini artificial intelligence (AI), the new lineup is designed to meet diverse user needs and lifestyles, offering more personalized AI features and experiences. Following its launch in South Korea, Samsung plans to roll out the new Galaxy Z lineup in more than 100 countries, including the United States, Britain, India, and Japan.
