Nvidia has appointed veteran lobbyist Bruce Andrews to lead its government affairs in Washington D.C., according to a LinkedIn post by Andrews and sources familiar with the matter. Andrews brings extensive experience in policy and government relations, having previously served as the chief government affairs officer for chipmaking competitor Intel and as a Commerce Department official during the Obama administration.
Andrews' move to the AI chip giant comes as Nvidia seeks to maintain its influence in Washington and as its business in China faces renewed scrutiny. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has emphasized the importance of selling hardware to China, noting the significant market potential.
Andrews will report to Nvidia's general counsel, Tim Teter, and will hold the title of Chief External Affairs Officer. Nvidia declined to comment on the hiring.
