HousingWire is enhancing its artificial intelligence strategy by making its extensive housing market data, mortgage information, and industry analysis accessible through AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude. The company unveiled these advancements during its third annual AI Summit, held at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas.
Clayton Collins, CEO of HousingWire, highlighted the evolution from discussing potential AI applications to deploying them, noting that the company has spent the past year organizing its data infrastructure. This includes structuring housing market data, mortgage data, rates, and RealTrends Verified rankings to ensure usability for both internal teams and new products. Collins emphasized the critical role of properly structured data in successful AI initiatives.
Holden Page, HousingWire’s Senior Vice President of Technology, demonstrated the integration of the company's data into AI workflows using a model context protocol (MCP). This open standard allows AI applications like Claude and ChatGPT to securely connect to external data sources without requiring users to be data scientists or write complex queries. An example showed Claude performing a weekly market analysis for Minneapolis-St. Paul, identifying seller positioning and generating a dashboard to guide lending teams.
HousingWire plans to offer the MCP through the Claude and ChatGPT stores, with a beta version already available on Snowflake. The company's overarching objective is to make its content and data readily available to housing professionals wherever they work, aiming to provide information that facilitates faster and better decision-making for subscribers in the mortgage, real estate, and homebuilding sectors. Feedback from industry professionals will guide further development of these AI solutions.
