Google Vids adds personalized AI avatars and Gemini Omni for video creation

Furthermore, Google is integrating its multi-modal AI model, Gemini Omni, into Vids. This integration enables users to generate videos from written prompts combined with uploaded reference images. Gemini Omni can also perform video editing tasks such as changing backgrounds, adjusting lighting, and adding effects to videos recorded on mobile devices.

The platform now supports step-by-step editing, allowing users to make incremental changes to their videos without needing to start the creation process from scratch. These updates position Google Vids as a more comprehensive video creation platform, moving beyond its initial role as an AI-assisted workplace presentation tool.

Google has stated that the personalized AI avatars are linked to the account holder's likeness and Google account, and will be invisibly watermarked using SynthID. Access to these personal avatar features is currently limited to users in specific regions who are 18 years of age or older.
