Anthropic is joining the UK Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) second Supercharged Sandbox cohort, providing its Claude AI models to financial services firms for testing. This initiative allows companies to experiment with AI applications, such as agent-led payments, fraud detection, compliance automation, and AI governance, within a regulated environment.
The second cohort includes 21 organizations, a significant increase from the first round, indicating growing demand for such experimental platforms. The FCA reported receiving 199 applications for this cohort, a 51% rise compared to the initial group. The program is supported by partnerships with NVIDIA and NayaOne, which offer computing infrastructure and development tools.
In addition to the sandbox, the FCA has launched a 10-week Agentic Academy in collaboration with the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship. This academy is designed to assist firms in developing and deploying AI agents within the financial services sector. The Supercharged Sandbox specifically targets firms in the early stages of AI development, while the FCA's AI Live Testing program is for those ready for live market deployment.
