Qantas Airways and its low-cost subsidiary Jetstar announced they will commence commercial passenger services from the new Western Sydney International Airport when it opens on October 25.
Upon the airport's launch, Jetstar plans to operate up to 14 weekly flights to Melbourne, four weekly flights to the Gold Coast, and three weekly flights to Brisbane. Qantas services are scheduled to begin on March 28 next year, with four weekly flights each to Melbourne and Brisbane.
Qantas Freight will also establish a significant presence, with its inaugural freighter service set to take off on July 27. The airline expects to move more than 850 tonnes of freight through its new terminal each week. Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson highlighted the airport's importance as a key hub for freight operations.
Other airlines are also set to operate from the new airport. Singapore Airlines announced it would launch daily non-stop flights on November 23, while Air New Zealand will operate three weekly return flights starting October 26, having signed an agreement with the airport in June 2025.
